Obituary of Beth Shao

Shao, Elizabeth (Beth) Louise Blankenship - Passed away Tuesday, August 4th, 2015. She was born December 23rd, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland and has resided in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee since 1987. Beth is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Stephen Shao, Jr.; her children, Stephen Shao III, Matthew Shao, Sarah Shao, all of Mt. Juliet, TN and Denise Goodfriend of Arbutus, Maryland; mother Elizabeth Rippetoe; sisters, Sandra Wiley and Carol O’Brien; brothers, James (Cherie) and Michael Rippetoe; grandchildren, Amanda Clark, Joseph Clark, Corey Miller; and great-grandchildren, James Allen Jr. and Joseph Clark Jr. as well as nieces and nephews. Beth is predeceased by her father, Daniel Webster Blankenship; stepfather, James Rippetoe; and brothers, Edward and Daniel (Mary Ellen) Rippetoe. She attended school in Maryland at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Southern High School and Baltimore County Community College. Beth was employed in the Wilson County School System as a teacher’s aide at Gladeville Elementary School and as a special education teaching assistant at West Wilson Middle School. Before moving to Tennessee, she worked in the law office of Weinberg & Green in Baltimore, MD and also for Montgomery Ward. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 10th at 1pm at Saint Stephens Catholic Church (14544 Lebanon Road, Old Hickory, TN 37138) with interment August 12, 2015 in Glen Bernie, Maryland. A visitation will be held at Sellars Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet on Sunday, August 9th from 4- 8pm and again on Monday from 12noon until time of service at the church.
