Obituary of Martha Ruth Hodges

Martha Ruth Hodges, age 76 of Portland, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Funeral Service will be Friday, August 28th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Guthrie Thompson and Brother Darryl Withers officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Bridge Cemetery with Logan Hodges, Wesley Hodges, Anthony Cook, Rick Hodges, Harold Brooks and Chris Hensley serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday, August 27th from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday, August 28th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Hodges was born May 8, 1939 in Sumner County, TN, daughter of the late Floyd Richard Brooks, Sr. and Fannie Elizabeth Moss Brooks. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Floyd Richard Brooks, Jr., Marie Pryor, Elizabeth Marratta, Herman Lewis Brooks, Thomas Larry Brooks, Robert Dewey Brooks, James Ray Brooks, Georgia B. Corker and Howard Glen Broooks. She is survived by sons, Randy Hodges of Portland, Paul Hodges (Lisa) of Gallatin, Jerry Hodges of Adolphus, KY, Wendell Hodges of Daytona Beach, FL; daughters, Diane Amons (Leroy) of Lafayette, Tammy Baskerville (Nick) of Portland; brothers, Melvin Brooks of Westmoreland and Eugene Brooks of Bethpage; grandchildren, Anthony Cook (Melissa) Tiffany Gray, Jessica Alley (Chad), Wesley Hodges, Callie Hodges, Morgan Baskerville, Logan Hodges and Gunner Baskerville; great grandchildren, Courtney Cook, Caitlyn Cook, Blake Hodges, Caleb Gray, Hunter Gray, McKennon Hodges, Ethan Hodges, Hayden Hodges and Nick Gray. She is also survived by former husband and father of her children, William “Bill” Hodges of Gallatin; a special niece, Teresa Hensley (Chris) of Hendersonville and numerous nieces and nephews.
