Obituary of Tamela Sue McCann

McCann, Tamela Sue Koudleka, age 52 of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Interment will follow in the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 10:00am until time of service. Tammy was born November 11, 1963 to George C. and Martha Koudleka in Mt. Juliet. She graduated from Mt. Juliet High school and then from MTSU with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She spent the last 30 years teaching children in the MNPS district. Ever a voracious reader, Tammy also served as a senior editor for the Historical Novel Society, establishing personal relationships with many known authors of that genre. She leaves behind a plethora of books, a host of collectible dolls, and her pride of black cats: Angus, Athena, and Fiona, who will now have to fight it out for the roll of Alpha-cat. She was preceded in death by her father, George C. Koudelka. Surviving family includes her 90-year old super-Mom, Martha Koudelka of Mt. Juliet; her high school sweetheart and husband of 29 years, Jeff McCann; two intelligent and successful daughters, Hannah and Katherine McCann; her caring and protective brother, Fred (Kathey) Koudelka; and a host of in-laws, nephews, and nieces, all of whom were very important to her.
