Obituary of Jerry Wilmoth

Jerry Wilmoth June 26th 1943 - January 23rd 2016 If its true that the dash above represents the life you lived, Jerry Wilmoth's life was filled with a lot of good years. He was born in Cookeville to the late Alex and Verona Wilmoth, and the youngest of 10 siblings. He later joined the military and became an honored Vietnam Veteran. Jerry managed the Cookeville Airport for many years and worked as a flight instructor there; which was probably his most rewarding job as he loved flying airplanes. He later went on to work for more than 20 years and retired from American Airlines. Most may not know, but in Jerry's 40's he went to college to obtain a degree in Aviation Maintenance and Airframe & Power Plant Program from Spartan College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a smart and hard working man as he earned some of the top grades in his class. Jerry and his family resided in the Sumner Co area for the last 27 years, raised a family and made many friends during this time. Jerry is survived by Joyce his wife of 47 years, daughter Angie Thomas (Kevin), daughter Brandie Little (Doug) and son Anthony Wilmoth, son Rafe Wilmoth, Granddaughters Sierra Thomas, Macy Thomas, Autumn Thomas and Nyla Little, Grandson Rafe Wilmoth, Brothers Ray Wilmoth, Joe Wilmoth and Frank Wilmoth. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Kenneth Wilmoth, Edith Holloway, Dimple Allen, Marie Scarberry, Sylvia Cumby and Ruth Bean. Jerry was passionate about many things, but above all he was passionate about and loved God, his family and flying airplanes. He was a family man that enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. He traveled the world through the military and the many family vacations he took.
