Obituary of Robert Paul Horton

Robert Paul Horton, age 84 of Portland, passed away Sunday January 24, 2016. Funeral Service will be Wednesday January 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Alan Thompson and Robby Kirkham officiating. Interment will follow at Old Brush Cemetery, with Mitchell Horton, Clint McGiboney, Cory Maxey, Mike Stahl, Billy Burton, and Caleb Rigsby serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday January 26 at Family Heritage Funeral Home from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mr. Horton was born April 20, 1931 in Carrall County, VA to the late Elbert Paul Horton and Myrtle Stockner Horton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Millie Jane Burton Horton; brothers, Onzi Horton, and Joseph Horton; and sister, Jewel Horton. He is survived by wife of 38 years, Eula Armentrout Horton of Portland; children, Sharon Martin (Randy) of Portland, Margaret Kirkham (Robby) of Portland, Wayne Horton (Sharon) of Hendersonville, Harvline Taylor (Louie) of Honaker, VA, Barbara Green (Lester) of Creston, OH, Larry Hamrick of Cleveland, OH, and Nancy Hamrick of Creston, OH; brothers, Jim Horton (Naomi) of South Carolina, and Jake Horton of King, NC; sisters, Mozel Branscome (Noel) of McMinnville, and Anita McKenna of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Kristen Martin (Blair Bunn), Holly Martin (Mike Stahl), Brittnay Horton (Clinton McGiboney), Kelly Rigsby (Caleb), and Mitchell Horton; 9 step grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Hudson Stahl, and Tripp McGiboney; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
