Obituary of Jesse F. Winchester, Jr.

Jesse Winchester, Jr., died January 25, 2016 at his home in Mt. Juliet following a brief illness. Jesse was born January 22,1946 in Clarksville, TN. He was a 1964 graduate of Clarksville High School. Following graduation he attended Austin Peay State University, and began a long successful career with South Central Bell, later known as BellSouth. He held several positions including frame attendant, lineman, switchman, and electronic technician. Jesse relocated to the Nashville area in 1986 as a supervisor of a central office location. He retired from BellSouth in 1995, following a thirty year career. Jesse relocated to Mt. Juliet in 1994. He was an avid golfer, and worked part-time at several area courses including Opryland Springhouse, Old Natchez, Fairvue Plantation, Pine Creek, and Windtree in Mt. Juliet. He traveled extensively with “golf buddies” to various courses, tournaments, and events in the US as well as Scotland. Outside of spending time at the golf course, Jesse enjoyed his family, and playing a professional “Santa” to numerous area children. This was a role he loved, and easily performed with his trademark white beard, and love of children. Mr. Winchester was preceded in death by parents, J. F. & Mary Winchester; brother, David Winchester; and daughter, Dawn Ann Houghtaling. He is survived by his significant other: Glenda Cooper, son, Scott (Linda) Brewer; daughters, Deana (Sam) Murphy and Sandy Aaron; brother, William "Buddy" (Vera) Winchester; sisters, Sue (Dean) Bernardi and Betty Holt; grandchildren, Joshua Rider, Sarah Savage, Jeremy VanMeter, Garrett House, Casey Horn, Danielle House, Katie Horn, Jessica Brewer and Kristina Arden; and 7 great-grandchildren.
