Obituary of Dorothy Jean Bruce
Dorothy Jean “Dot” Bruce, age 88 of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday May 17, 2016. Funeral Service will be Friday May 20th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Pastor James Gill officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville, with family serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday May 19th from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mrs. Bruce was born March 28, 1928 in Nashville to the late Homer Franklin Cruse and Alma Eaton Stokes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Margaret Linsell; and grandson, William Landy. She is survived by daughter, Eva Jean Bruce (Mike) of Gallatin; nieces, Dolores Underhill (George) of Hendersonville, Jean Grammel of Hamilton, OH, and Anita Conner (Warren) of Fairview, TN; and nephew, George Linsell of Ashland City. Dot flew with Civil Air Patrol for 10 years and loved fishing and hunting. Special thanks to Gallatin Health Care and Dr. H. Wayne Hooper, Jr. for giving mother a good quality of life for 9 years, and to Dr. August and the Highpoint Hospice Team for showing mother compassion and dignity as she prepared to meet her Father in Heaven.
