Obituary of Homer Stewart

Homer Stewart, age 89 of Portland, passed away Tuesday June 7, 2016. Funeral Service will be Friday June 10th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Chris Towe officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Jacky Stewart, JR Stewart, Charlie Leath, Austin Lamb, Bill Vandercook, and Derek Vandercook serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are John Harland, Jimmy Cook, Shane Lane, and Steven Ward. Visitation will be Thursday June 9th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Friday June 10th from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mr. Stewart was born January 22, 1927 in Marshall, TN, to the late Ollie Homer Stewart and Elizabeth Thurman Stewart. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 brothers, and 5 sisters. He is survived by wife of 70 years, Billie Stewart of Portland; daughters, Patty Vandercook (Bill) of Gallatin, and Betty Reid of Portland; 3 grandchildren, Kelli Sexton, Ashley Thompson, and Nikki Michael (Dave); and 5 great grandchildren, Ben Michael, Lily Michael, Austin Lamb, Annie Gentry, and Lucas Gentry. He was a member of Hollis Chapel Church. The family would like to thank the “Lady’s of Hollis Chapel Church”. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hollis Chapel Church.
