Obituary of Gary Lynn Binion

Gary Lynn Binion, better known as Peanut, was born on December 29, 1954, in Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late E.J. Binion and Josie Dickens Binion. Peanut married the love of his life, Frances "Sissy" Smith on February 24, 1981, and they spent twenty-four wonderful years together before she passed on July 8, 2005. He was saved by the Lord's grace and was of the Missionary Baptist Belief. Peanut was employed by the Macon County Board of Education as a maintenance man. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. Peanut always had a smile on his face and had a kind and gentle spirit. Along with his father and mother, Peanut was also preceded in death by his step-father, Herman Brooks and his uncle, Dick Dickens. On Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the age of sixty-one years, eight months, and five days, Peanut was called to his Heavenly Home. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Peanut is survived by; Sisters, Delilah Hatfield and husband Randy, Janet Coffee and husband Johnny, Kristie Proffitt and husband, Jimmy; Brothers, Tony Brooks and wife Tracy, Christopher "Porkchop" Brooks; Sister-In-Law, Joyce Smith; Aunts, Annie Heady and Shirley Napier; Uncle, Roger Binion; Niece, Tammy Russell; Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Funeral services for Gary "Peanut" Binion were conducted on Tuesday, September 06, 2016, at 11am from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jackie Wakefield officiating. Interment followed in the Nelson McDonald Cemetery. Pallbearers were; Tommy Russell, Joe Dell Miller, Wayne Taylor, Jimmy Proffitt, W.C. Smith, and Phillip Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were; Justin Barnfield and the Macon County Board of Education Maintenance Department.
