Obituary of Jesse Lee Graves

Jesse Lee Graves, age 84 of Portland, passed away Monday October 10, 2016. Funeral Service will be Friday October 14th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Williams and Bro. Eugene Mays officiating. Interment will follow at Rippy Cemetery, with Cody Chastain, Kyle Williams, Wayne Lee, Tim Heatherly, Danny Troutt, and David Graves serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday October 12th from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday October 13th from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. and Friday October 14th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Mr. Graves was born January 13, 1932 in Sumner County to the late Tom E. Graves and Eula O’Neal Graves. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister, Frances Troutt. He is survived by wife of 52 years, Media Graves of Portland; daughters, Cindy Short (Monty) of Portland, Patty Heatherly (Tim) of Castalian Springs, and Pamela Chastain (Lee) of Portland; brothers, Thomas Graves (Sylvia) of Castalian Springs, David Graves (Carol) of Portland, and Clifford “Skip” Graves (Patsy) of Castalian Springs; sisters, Peggy Gregory of Lafayette and Betty Beasley (David) of Gallatin; 5 grandchildren, Wayne Lee (Tabatha), Nichole Milligan (Tyler), Kyle Williams, Magen Pike (Kyle), and Cody Chastain (Carly); and 5 great grandchildren, Austin Lee, Landen Lee, Leyton Milligan, Keagen Pike, and Curstin Chastain. Mr. Graves was a retired contractor of 40 plus years. His family was his pride and joy. He loved being on his John Deere tractor and plowing up a garden or showing off his beloved ’72 Chevy Pickup Truck. He loved to make everyone laugh, even if that meant playing a joke or two.
