Obituary of Billy Joe Caruthers

Billy Joe Caruthers, age 85 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday November 6, 2016. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 8th at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 8th from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mr. Caruthers was born August 31, 1931 in Trousdale County to the late J. H. Caruthers and Mary Neal Gregory Caruthers. He is survived by son Bill N. Caruthers (Jackie) of Murfreesboro; daughter, Darlene Shults (John) of Birmingham, AL; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. His daughter Angelyn Caruthers Manning (Steve) and his wife of 38 years, Betty Parks Caruthers predeceased Mr. Caruthers. Mr. Caruthers was a graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy, Bowling Green Business College. He owned and operated the Western Auto Stores in Gallatin, Portland & Goodlettsville for 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was very active in the community, serving on the Gallatin City Council for 8 years, and was an active member of Jaycees and Rotary Club.
