Obituary of Sandra Garvin

SANDRA JOAN GARVIN, better known as Joan - age 70 of Lafayette, passed away Friday evening, July 29, 2011 at the Hendersonville Medical Center. Funeral services for Sandra Joan Garvin were conducted Monday, August 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Pete Freeman officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were; Junior Garvin, Mickey Lee Swindle, Dale Thaxton, Josh Hughett, Sam Garvin, Thomas Eakle, and Alex Martinez. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Sandra Joan Ellis Garvin was born on June 24, 1941 in Robbins, Tennessee to the late Idel Ellis and Mary Christine Marlow Ellis. She was one of six children born to this union. Joan was married in her younger life and had five children; one son Michael Hughett preceded her in death. Besides her son and parents; brothers, Allen Ellis, and Leland Ellis, sisters, Glenis Blevins, and Myloa Ellis also preceded her in death. Joan was a housewife, but most of all a caring mother. She loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They always came first in her life and a day spent with them was counted a blessing to her. Working in her flower garden was something she enjoyed doing. She also liked to crochet and had made several pieces, until it became too painful. Joan loved listening to gospel music as she went around the house doing daily chores. She attended Millers Chapel General Baptist Church. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by; Daughters, Mary Ronalye Dixon and Fiancé Barry Robinson, and Tonja Taylor and Fiancé Rocky Wix, Sons, Howard "Junior" Garvin and wife Kim, and Christopher Scott Hughett and wife Beverly; all of Lafayette, TN, Brother, Alvin Ellis of Cape Coral, FL, eight Grandchildren, and fourteen Great-grandchildren.
