Obituary of Ina Roark Mahaney

MS. INA FAYE ROARK MAHANEY - age 85 of Lafayette, TN passed away on Monday afternoon, April 25, 2011 at Knollwood Manor. Funeral services for Ms. Ina Faye Roark Mahaney will be conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Guthrie Thompson and Elder Ricky Wilson officiating. Shawn Carter, Clint Carter, Kevin Kirby, Terry Doss, Kelvin Stevens, Derek Sanders, served as Honorary Pallbearers. Ricky Roark, Scotty Roark, Timmy Roark, David Doss, Terry Doss, Jeff Morgan served as Active Pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Underwood Cemetery. Ina Faye was born on December 25, 1925 in Monroe County, Kentucky to Connie Carson Roark and Ercie Lillian Franklin Roark. She was the oldest of nine children born to this union. On September 20, 1945, she was married to James Carmoline Mahaney, sharing thirty-five years together. They had two daughters and one son. Carmoline preceded her in death on October 15, 1980. Besides her husband and parents; brothers, Murl Thomas Roark, Melvin Edward Roark, and Blondell Roark, sisters, Jewell Trevell Roark, Willa Dean Driver, and Catherine Doss, great-grandchild, MaKaya Ann Carter, and one son-in-law, Larry T. Morgan, also preceded her in death. Ina Faye began working for her brother at the Roark Tea and Sage Factory. Later on she went to Knollwood Manor working as a Housekeeper and then as a C.N.A., until retiring. After retiring, she still loved visiting the residents and doing volunteer work. She always stayed busy, whether it was milking cows or raising a big garden. Ina Faye enjoyed crocheting, fishing, or sitting out on her porch watching the hummingbirds feed and the wildlife. Ina Faye was saved as a young lady and joined Rough Hill Missionary Baptist Church, being baptized in July of 1950. She was better known as Granny Haney to her grandkids and great-grandkids. Ina Faye was loved by all of her many family members and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by; Son, James (Margaret) Mahaney, Daughters, Bettie (James) Ford Wanda (the late Larry T.) Morgan, Grandchildren, Angie Doss, Melissa Stevens, Leah Shay Kirby, Jenna Sanders, Kim Carter, Jeff Morgan, and Lori Carter, twelve Great-grandchildren, Brothers, Donald (Maurice) Roark, Elmer (Joyce) Roark, Special Friend, Calvin Law, Sisters-in-law, Sue Roark, Sarah Roark and Betty Wheeler, also survive.
