Obituary of Mildred L. Turner

MRS. MILDRED LEE JENKINS TURNER- age 72 of Lafayette, TN passed away at Sumner Regional Medical Center on Monday morning, May 2, 2011 with her family by her side. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred Lee Jenkins Turner were conducted on Wednesday, May 4 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home. Elder Ricky Day and Reverend Kenny Sullivan officiated and interment followed in the Rocky Hill Cemetery. Jammie Alley Ford, T. C. Ford, Shannon Carter, Chris Trent, David Carter, and Caleb Heath served as Active Pallbearers. Mildred Lee Turner was born in Boyce, Kentucky to the late James Lee Jenkins and Pearl Mildred Mahaney Jenkins on June 9, 1938. In 1973, Mildred Lee was married to Tom Turner in Gallatin, Tennessee. They shared almost thirty-eight years together. Mildred had one daughter and six step-children that she cherished. During her life she worked in the garment industry, as a restaurant manager in Grants, and in the wholesale and retail business traveling from Kentucky to Florida. In her mid-60's she attained a lifelong dream and got her GED. Mildred Lee was saved in Dover, FL in 1953 when she heard the sermon, "Hanging over Hell by a Thread". She loved her church family and was a devoted member of the Rocky Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed being with her family whether at Church, at singings, or going out to eat. Mildred always was a high spirited person. She could make you smile no matter how rough your day. Mildred Lee was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by; Husband, Thomas "Tom" Turner, Daughter, Deborah (Norman) Sanders, Brother, James Harrison (Carol) Jenkins, Sister, Anna Jean (Steve) Carter, Grandson, Orran Sanders, Step-Sisters, Loretta (Dale) Strong all of Lafayette, TN, Louise Crabtree of Gamaliel, KY, Step-Children, Thomas Mickey Turner of Daytona, FL, Jackie & Jim Shultz of Trenton, FL, Tom Turner of Wellington, FL, Randy (Cindy) Turner of Lafayette, TN, Allen Turner of Tallahassee, FL, Peggy of Tallahassee, FL, she also leaves behind; 1 Grandchild, several Step-Grandchildren, several Step-Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
