Obituary of Ozie Lee Carter

MS. OZIE LEE CARTER - age 79 of Lafayette, passed away on Friday June 3, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services for Ms. Ozie Lee Carter were conducted on Tuesday June 7 at 11am from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Barry Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Drury Cemetery. Ozie Lee was born on March 14, 1932 to the late Floyd and Eva Barber Reid in Macon County, Tennessee. She was one of four children born to this union. She was married to Willie Brown Carter on November 1, 1947, sharing her life with him until he departed this life on August 10, 1990. Besides her husband and parents, son, Terry Carter, grandchildren, Kenneth Carter, and Wendy Lee King, brothers, Donald Reid, William Howser Reid, and Willard Green Reid, also preceded her in death. Ozie Lee worked for local garment factories for over twenty-five years, before retiring. Family came first in life to Ozie. She loved being with her children and especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Working in her garden and putting up all the harvest, kept her busy. She was a great cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. Quilting and crocheting was hobbies she liked to do when time allowed. She enjoyed going out with her grandkids dancing; she loved to line dance and buck dance. She was saved and a member of New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. Ozie Lee was full of life and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by; Sons; Jimmy Carter, and Barry Carter both of Westmoreland, TN, Daughter; Rhonda and husband Jimmy King of Lafayette, TN, Grandchildren; Terry Coffee, Derrell Coffee, Jennifer King McMillan, Christie Carter, Heather Knight, and Matthew Carter.
