Obituary of John Richard Brooks

John Richard Brooks, age 87 of Portland, passed away Friday December 2, 2016. Funeral Service will be Tuesday December 6th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday December 5th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday December 6th from 12:00 noon until time of service. Mr. Brooks was born October 26, 1929 in Gainesboro to the late Walter Vance Brooks and Willie Smith Brooks. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, R.V. Brooks and James A. Brooks; and sisters Willie Cox and Helen McGehee Schueler. He is survived by wife of 63 years, Ellen H. Brooks of Portland; and daughter, Cindy Thompson (Marty) of Portland.
