Obituary of Mary Catherine Dickerson Haywood

Mary Catherine Dickerson Haywood, age 78 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017. Funeral Service will be Monday, March 13th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Rev. James Eidson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 12th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Monday, March 13th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Jeff Yawn, Scott Carter, Spencer Harp, Richard Cornell, Jonathan Rivers, and Tim Sanders serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Harp, Floyd Sanders, Brandon Moreno, Bruce Dickerson, Tiger Ward, and Brett Johnson. Mrs. Haywood was born February 8, 1939, in Anniston, AL to the late Leonard Walker Simpson and France Pauline Simpson Bittle. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands, Charles James Dickerson and Samuel M. Haywood. She is survived by daughters, Rita Dickerson Perdue (Ronnie) of Bethpage, Mitzi Dickerson Sanders (Edward) of Gallatin, and Holly Dickerson Dankowski of Gallatin; brother, Larry Joe Gilbert (Martha) of Anniston, AL.; sister, Julia Ruth Cannon of McMinnville; 4 grandchildren, Amber Cornell (Richard), Leah Banks (Lonnie), Brianna Ward, and Brandon Moreno; and 6 great grandchildren, Alexis Johns, Catherine Banks, Hayden Banks, Adrianne Rivers, Wynter Cornell, and Spencer Harp. Miss Catherine was co-owner and manager of Hair By Mitzi and Company for over 15 years, after retiring from Sears. Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderfh.info.
