Obituary of Dorothy Shaw Liggett

Dorothy “Dot” Shaw Liggett, age 86 of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Graveside Service will be Sunday, April 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, April 8th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 9th from 12 noon until time of service at Family Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with David Deere, Victor Deere, Brian Lippincott, Rocky Cothron, Ted Bransford, and Darrell Terry serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Liggett was born September 23, 1930 in Cottontown, to the late William M. Shaw and Mable Cothron Shaw. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sons, Daniel Lee Liggett and Scott Allen Liggett; brother, Donald Ray Shaw; and sister, Peggy Sue Bennett. She is survived by daughters, Kimberly Shaw Deere (David) of Gallatin and Deborah Liggett Lippincott of Goose Creek, SC; 7 grandchildren, Brian J. Lippincott (Elizabeth), Victor W. Deere, Taylor M. Deere, Shantel Sams, Justin Liggett (Marianna), Jennifer Liggett, and Michael Liggett; and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Liggett was a long time member of First Baptist Church Gallatin and was dedicated to the ladies of her Sunday School class. Mrs. Liggett worked for Cotton’s on the Square in Gallatin for 25 years. The Chandler family, Cotton, Bonnie, and the girls (Linda, Phyllis, Debbie, and Cheryl) were very dear to her heart.
