Obituary of Charlie H. Cantrell

Charlie H. Cantrell, age 96 of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, May 03, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Friday, May 5th at Gallatin First Church of The Nazarene at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. C. Michael Courtney and Dr. L. Alan Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Shandy Shirk, Chuck Duncan, Tommy Cantrell, Michael Tuttle, Dennis Tuttle, Joshua Courtney, and Jacob Courtney serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be Thursday, May 4th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Family Heritage Funeral Home, and Friday, May 5th at Gallatin First Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Branches Counseling Center, 1102 Dow Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130 or Gallatin First Church of the Nazarene, 407 North Water Av., Gallatin, TN.  37066.

Mr. Cantrell was born November 2, 1920 in Sumner County, to the late John Winchester Cantrell and Mary Evaline Cage Cantrell.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Mary Katherine Vantrease Cantrell; son, John Leslie Cantrell; and granddaughter, Shellye Renee’ Duncan.  He is survived by daughters, Mary “Cagie” Tuttle (Dale) of Gallatin, Mona Vandevort of Hermitage, and Doris Courtney (Michael) of Murfreesboro; daughter-in-law, Ruth Creasy (Larry) of Gallatin; brother, Jesse “Tad” Cantrell of Gallatin; 7 grandchildren, Tommy Cantrell (Becky), Michael Tuttle (Donna), Dennis Tuttle (Crissy), Chuck Duncan, Shandy Shirk (Brian), Josh Courtney (Jennifer), and Jacob Courtney (Allison); and 9 great grandchildren.  Mr. Cantrell served in the Navy during World War II.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Family Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
