Obituary of Mayford Oral Smith
Mayford Oral Smith, age 84 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017. Graveside Service will be Saturday, June 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Richard Tuttle, J. H. Herndon, Gary Brooks, Dwight Fleming, Eddie Hall, William “Bubba” Watson, and Tim Allen serving as pallbearers. J. C. Keen will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be at family Heritage Funeral Home Friday, June 2nd from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 3rd from 11:00 a.m. until time to leave for the cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born July 9, 1932 in Gainsboro, TN to the late Tom R. Smith and Zania Barlow Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Louise Pruitt Smith; brother, Bill Smith; sisters, Katherine Smith Thyberg and Irene Smith Herndon; and brother-in-law, James Robert Kizer. He is survived by siblings, Nan McConnell (Roy) of Ridgetop, Annette Peters of Publeo, CO, Glenda Kizer of Ridgetop, Janice Johnson (Bill) of Gallatin, Shirley Tuttle (Richard) of Gallatin, Carol Brooks (Gary) of Bethpage, Bobbie Carter of Gallatin, and Ricky Smith (Jana) of Gallatin; sister-in-law, Katherine Smith of Gainsboro; brother-in-law’s, Doug Thyberg of Seal Beach, CA and J. H. Herndon of Gallatin; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith retired from the Eaton Corp. after over 30 years of service. After he retired from Eaton, he was a farmer.
