Obituary of Edwin Morris Franklin

Edwin “Ed” Morris Franklin, age 82 of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 2nd at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Ave.), with Pastor Brian Prince officiating.  Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with family serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be Friday, September 1st from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 2nd from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.  There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 1st at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Franklin was born August 5, 1935 in Defeated Creek, Smith County, TN, to the late Homer Carr Franklin and Mittie Fite West Franklin.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Paul West Franklin and Darrell Key Franklin; and sister, Ellen Owens.  He is survived by wife of 59 years, Rebecca Franklin of Gallatin; daughter, Karen Piper of Gallatin; son, Blaine Scott Franklin of Gallatin; and 5 grandchildren, Ashleigh Piper, Laura Franklin, Kristy Piper, Rebekah Ann Franklin, and Nicole Piper.  Mr. Franklin served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hendersonville and Gallatin for 50 years.  Mr. Franklin owned Franklin Dental Lab for over 30 years.  In addition he and his son, Scott, owned and operated Hickory Ridge Farm for 30 years.  Mr. Franklin was a long standing member of First Baptist Church Gallatin.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Suite 200, Nashville, TN  37220.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Alexander Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
