Obituary of Lawrence McMurtry, Jr.

Lawrence McMurtry, Jr, age 90 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 13th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Terrell Somerville officiating.  Interment will follow at Beech Cemetery, with Justin York, Josh York, Jeffery York, Curtis Mize, Sr., Curtis Mize, Jr., and Scottie Reeves serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be Tuesday, September 12th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 13th from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. 

Mr. McMurtry was born December 4, 1926 in Davidson County, to the late Lawrence McMurtry, Sr. and Bessie McMurtry.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Willodean Chaffin McMurtry; and brothers, Ralph David McMurtry and Ewing McMurtry. He is survived by sister, Betty Jean Liles of Gallatin; brothers, Harold McMurtry (Irene) of South Carolina and Billy McMurtry of Gallatin; nieces and nephews, Robin Templeton of Gallatin, Rita York of Florida, Richard Mize of Gallatin, Darlene Long of Florida, Curtis Mize of Gallatin, Billy Reese McMurtry of Louisville, KY, Twanda Clark of Gallatin, Wilma McMurtry of South Caroline, Wanda McMurtry of South Carolina, Tina McMurtry of South Carolina, David McMurtry of Lafayette, Lydia McMurtry of Bethpage, Mike McMurtry, Sherry McMurtry, Marie and Bobby; and great nephews, Justin York, Josh York, and Jeffery York.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Alexander Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
