Obituary of Sylvia McMurtry

Sylvia McMurtry, age 76 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Friday, September 22nd at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue), with Bro. Brandon Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be Thursday, September 21st from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. McMurtry was born November 6, 1940 in Erin, TN, to the late Roy T. French and Mildred Pauline Ridings French.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Garrett “Catfish” McMurtry.  She is survived by son, Garrett Anthony “Tony” McMurtry (Dejuona) of Castalian Springs; daughters, Teresa Briley (Randy) of Gallatin and Tambra Moore of Hartsville; 3 grandchildren, Matthew McMurtry, Tatum McMurtry, and Casey Briley; and 2 great grandchildren, Trey and Summer.  Mrs. McMurty worked at Rucker Stewart for 32 years in the cafeteria.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Old Union Church of Christ Youth Fund, 2505 Hartsville Pike, Castalian Springs, TN  37031.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexnaderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
