Obituary of James Erwin Marler, Sr.

James Erwin Marler, Sr., age 84 of Portland, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Monday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue). Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be Sunday, September 24th from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, September 25th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Marler was born June 17, 1933 in Sumner County to the late S. Erwin Marler and Mildred Hazel Webster Marler.  He is survived by wife of 31 years, Juanita Huntsman Stacy Marler of Portland; first wife and mother of his children, Beverly Marler Maceo, TX; son,  Retired Captain James Erwin Marler, Jr (Lina) of Gallatin; daughter, Regina Gayle Marler Kyle (Retired Col. Sam) of Virginia; step daughters, Rhonda Kay Stacy Randolph (Gene) of Portland and Anita Faye Stacy of Panama City, FL; sister, Mildred Ann Trotter of Owensboro, KY; 4 grandchildren, William Kyle, Nathan Kyle, Caroline Marler, and Clair Marler; 4 step grandchildren, Joshua Randolph, Heather Randolph, Jessica Denton, and Cody J. Capps; and 5 step great-grandchildren, Terrance Randolph, Isaiah Patton, Jaylee Grace Denton, Adaline Faith Denton, and Olivia Hope White. Mr. Marler was an avid paper and book reader, and he loved baseball and football. He served our country in the U.S. Army.  Mr. Marler retired from Ford Glass Plant after 30 years of service.  He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
