Billy Joe King, age 80 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue), with Bro. Jeremy Akins officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 6th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 7th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Mr. King was born April 21, 1937 in Sumner County, to the late Perry King and Bessie Hesson King. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Alice Faye Mungle King; brothers, Jerry Wayne King and Bobby King; and sisters, Imogene Adams and Laurene Givens. He is survived by sons, Billy Joe King, Jr. (Janice) of Gallatin and Bobby Joe King of Red Boiling Springs; daughter, Deborah Ann Roberts (Harold Fuqua) of Gallatin; step-sons, Paul A. Eden (Brenda) of Hartsville and Kelly Eden (Judy) of Hartsville; step-daughter, Mary Combs (Tommy) of Portland; sister, Peggy Crowder (Jim) of Gallatin; 2 grandchildren; 3 step- grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. King served our country in the United States Navy. He was a truck driver for Overnight and worked for Oscar Myer as a machine operator for 19 years.
