James Lenon Gober, Sr., age 78 of Hermitage passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020. Mr. Gober was preceded in death by parents, Brooks Gober and Margarete Walton; brother, Raymond Spann; sisters, Dorothy Walton, Elizabeth Walton and Evelyn Shoemake. He is survived by wife of 43 years, Deborah Gober; children, Judy (Doodle) Rucker, James (Judy) Gober, Jr., Wayne (Rhonda) Gober, Chris (Katie) Warner, Melanie (Tim) Kohler, Kenny (Courtney) Gober and Rachel (John) Wolf; sister, Patricia McCormick; 24 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. James worked at H.G. Hills grocery at an early age. He was a deputy sheriff for Wilson County in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He worked at Krispy Kreme as a supervisor at the Gallatin Road location in East Nashville. He owned his own flooring installation business until he retired in 2018. James believed that hard work was the way to succeed in life and instilled this value in his family. He loved fishing, camping, playing cards and scratch offs. He was a loving, caring family man. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 28th at 1 pm in the chapel at Sellars Funeral Home at Hendersonville with Bro. Tom Henry officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Ricky Tobitt, Jr., Brian Gober, Chase Gober, Reid Warner, Blake Gober, Andrew Gober, Nathan Gober, Owen Kohler and Troy Gober, Jr. serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, September 27th from 2-8 pm and Monday, September 28th from 11 am until time of service.
