Obituary of Brenda Lannom

Brenda Lannom, age 76 of Gallatin, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021. Funeral Service will be Monday, June 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, with Ministers Doyle Farris and Brian Jarrett officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 20th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ and Monday, June 21st from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens, with Jack Wilhite, Camron Lannom, Cason Lannom, Kevin Lee, Garlin Farris, Eddie Snipes, and J. J. Redmon serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartsville Pike Church of Christ Youth Fund, 744 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066 or to Children Are People, Inc, P.O. Box 1443, Gallatin, TN 37066. Mrs. Lannom was born September 1, 1944 in Mt. Juliet to the late Grafton L. Graves and Clara Bell Hamblen Graves. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Gilbert Graves and brother-in-law, Rusty Ferrell. She is survived by husband of 58 years, Bob Lannom of Gallatin; children, Julie Gayle Lannom of Hendersonville, Amy Wilhite (Seth) of Hendersonville, and Lee Lannom (Julie) of Georgetown, TN; brothers, Mahlon Graves (Elois) of Mt. Juliet and Eddie Graves (Beverly) of Mt. Juliet; sisters, Donna Ferrell of Mt. Juliet and Susan Davis (Steve) of Mt. Juliet; and 6 grandchildren, Madison Lee (Kevin), Molly Claire Wilhite, Jack Wilhite, Camron Lannom, Elizabeth Lannom, and Cason Lannom. Three words describe Brenda the best: Faith, Family and Friends. She attended Center Chapel Church of Christ (Mt. Juliet) as a young child and was baptized there. Her loving faith in God and her devotion to His church were characteristic of her focus on serving the Lord throughout her life. Brenda worked at Donelson Clinic, Pilot Oil Company in Knoxville, Sumner County Clerk’s office, and 16 years at Gallatin High School as a secretary and bookkeeper. Brenda and Bob faithfully attended Hartsville Pike Church of Christ in Gallatin serving as active members since 1966. Brenda taught 3rd grade in the Bible school program of Hartsville Pike and served as a role model for others in the education program. She was an avid Bible reader and student of God’s word. When not teaching, you could find her in Bob’s class supporting him as her favorite teacher. She loved serving others through the church’s 2 by 2 visitation program and diligent in sending cards to all members young and old in times of need, sadness or in celebration. She cooked and helped serve many meals for shut-ins, church functions and events. Her family all spoke of her devotions, loyalty and interest in the success of each of her family members. She loved her parents, brothers and sisters and often made herself available to the needs of each of them during good and bad times. She loved to travel and was always ready to go. Hundreds of pictures can’t hide the love and devotion she exhibited caring for and loving her husband, Bob, three children, and six grandchildren. Nana, as she was known, was the example of a patient, loving, and compassionate qualities exhibited by a mom, grandmother and loving wife. The needs of her family were always at the top of her priority list. Brenda had many friends, too many to name. Everywhere she went she made new friends. She was genuine and sincere in all her friendships. She attracted so many because of her ability to show that she really cared about people. Among many of her great attributes, her examples of hospitality, compassion, and love she exhibited were top of the list. Her house was a magnet for so many. She was willing to share her home and an open invitation was the norm. Brenda was truly an example of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31:10-31. Her price was far above rubies.
