Obituary of Carl Tackett

Carl Morton Tackett, age 82 of Hendersonville, passed away September 14, 2021. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Viola Pough Tackett; step father, Robert Thiele; sister, Sandra Sue Tweed; brother, Robert Thiele, Jr.; granddaughter, Katrina Caroline Tackett. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol Aycock Tackett; son, Jeffrey Carl (Heidi) Tackett; daughter, Tracy Lynn Tackett; grandchildren, Justin Carl Tackett, Nicholas Alexander Tackett and Jessica Lilla Tackett; sister, Cathleen Madden. Carl was born in Casper, WY, but grew up in Fort Collins, CO where he attended school. He met His wife Carol in high school and has been married to her for more than 62 years. In high school Carl also loved hot rods and turned this into a career in the automotive industry where he worked in various management positions. His work took him to many different cities including: Coffeyville, KS; St. Louis, MO; Fort Collins, CO; Denver, CO, where he owned his own auto parts store called “Carl’s Auto Parts”; San Antonio, TX; Portland OR; Honolulu, HI; Farmington, NM; Los Angeles, CA and Seattle, WA. His desire to be near his grandchildren also led him to Lehi, UT and then to Hendersonville, TN. He had many interesting hobbies which included race car driving, vintage car restoration, radio controlled model airplanes, and his favorite which was puttering in his garage. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 25th at 12 pm at Hillcrest Municipal Cemetery, 3141 US-31 W., White House, TN.
