Obituary of John Haight Sitton

John Haight Sitton peacefully left us on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 with his loved ones nearby. John was born November 24, 1930 in Denver, Colorado to Kara and Dr. J.D. Sitton. He graduated from Denver schools and Grinnell College. While working in California he met and married Linda Roberts. He worked in restaurant and retail management up and down the West Coast. Upon retiring, John has lived in Hollister, CA, Chattanooga, TN, and Ruston, LA. He enthusiastically served his church and Lord and Savior while finding time for Merchant’s groups, Rotary, Judicial Justice Commission, California Grand Jury, and other civic and volunteer causes. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda, his son, Grant and wife Diane of Jamul, CA, daughter, Gretchen and husband Thomas Hoover of Ruston, LA, grandchildren; Kendra, Gareth and Weston Sitton, KaraLin, John, Peter, Ruby, and Ezekiel Hoover and nieces and nephews whom he loved. No man cherished his Lord and family more. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Hartsville Memorial Gardens conducted by Bro. Joseph Sitton. There he will be surrounded by family who have gone before and those who will love him always. The family suggests Grinnell College and The Well of Northeast Louisiana for those who wish to make a gift in John’s memory.
