Jonathan Patrick “J.J.” Smith, Jr, age 20 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 19th at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 19th from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Family Heritage Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses. J.J. was born November 13, 2000 in Dayton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by grandfather, Garland Smith; and grandmother, Helen Chadwell. He is survived by parents, Jonathan Patrick Smith, Sr and Debra Chadwell Smith of Gallatin; daughter, Karma Teresa Smith; grandmother, Linda Smith of Ohio; grandfather, Clarence Thacker of Ohio; brother, Charles Owen, Jr. of Ohio; sister, Brianna Nichole Smith of Hickman, TN; uncle, Henry Chadwell; aunts, Narvella Fisher, Lisa Hall, Michelle Smith and Lisa Fisher, all of Ohio; mother of his daughter, Brittany Michelle Appleby; and many cousins, living in 5 different states. Jonathan was a kind, loving, beautiful light in this world for everyone he crossed paths with. J.J. loved to freestyle rap and was very good at it. He was planning to join the United States Marine Corp and was currently working with a marine on this process. Jonathan always gave his last dollar to the homeless and help feed anyone in need.
