Obituary of John Henry Catron, Sr.

John Henry Catron, Sr. age 93 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021. Funeral Service will be Friday, October 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Doug Parks officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, October 21st from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Friday, October 22nd from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Jay Catron, Sam Catron, Robert Hunter, Mark Catron, Dean Catron, and Rodney Cothron honoring him as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203. Mr. Catron was born in Ben Hur, Virginia and moved to Tennessee in 1932 to Lock Four Road. He moved to Cages Bend in 1935 and spent the rest of his life in the “bend”. Mr. Catron served our country in the United States Navy. He was retired from the State of Tennessee as an x-ray technician in the tuberculosis division of the health department. He was a member of the Nashville Road Church of Christ and served as deacon from 1988 – 1999. After retirement he practiced wood working. He was a member the Gallatin Jaycees and served as an Election Precinct Foreman. He loved his family and was always doing what he could to help out with whatever was needed. He is survived by devoted wife of 69 years, Frances Ina Jean Smith Catron; sons, John Henry Catron, Jr (Debbie) and Gene McKinley Catron (Chantay); sister, Dorothy Mae Catron Poag; brother, McKinley “June” Catron, Jr (Bonnye); grandchildren, Jennifer Catron Cothron (Rodney), Alicia Catron Hunter (Robert), Jay McKinley Catron, Samuel Ellis Catron (Molly), and Brett McKinley Catron (Jami); great grandchildren, Jailyn Sierra Cothron, Riley Kaitlynn Cothron, Rodney Dale “CJ” Cothron, Jr, Lillian Elise Hunter, Myra Elizabeth Hunter, James McKinley Hunter, Grady Ellis Catron, and Brecklyn Reese Catron; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Mr. Catron was preceded in death by son, Jay Howard Catron; parents, McKinley C. Catron and Golden Vida Moore Catron; and sister, Millie Elizabeth Catron Williams and Nathleene Moore Catron Witt Skinner. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheitagefh.com.
