Obituary of Louise "Susie" Elrod

Louise “Susie” Elrod, age 71 of Portland, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, November 1st from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Elrod was born October 8, 1950 in Sumner County to the late James Shrum, Sr. and Alice Gantt Shrum. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Carl Elrod; step-daughter, Cathy Elrod; and brother, William Shrum. She is survived by daughter, Tina Slagle (Steve) of Portland; step-daughter, Brenda Elrod Formosa (Nicky) of White House; step-son, Jimmy Elrod (Sandra) of Elmwood, TN; brothers, James Shrum, Jr. (Janice) of Gallatin, Oscar Shrum of Gallatin, Donald Shrum (Gail) of Hartsville, Billy Joe Shrum (Wynelle) of Bethpage, and Ernie Shrum of Gallatin; grandchildren, Abbi Slagle and Logan Slagle (Amber); step-grandchildren, Jaclyn Chastain, Samantha Castro, Brett Coble, Brittany West, Tyler Thacker, Taylor Thacker, Angel Allen, and Lacey Allen; great grandchildren, Jada Slagle, Emorie Slagle, and Hudson Slagle; and several step-great grandchildren.
