Obituary of Lon Southerland

Lon Southerland passed away at home on December 29, 2021 at the age of 89. The Graveside Service, conducted by Brother Frank Bratcher, is 1:30 pm Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Wilson County Memorial. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Lon Southerland was born in Maynardville TN to Mary Haynes Southerland and Charlie Southerland. He served in the United States Air Force. In civilian life, for 38 years he worked as a maintenance technician at Canteen Corporation. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Carthage TN,and loved gardening and woodworking. Mr. Southerland is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Linn Southerland, sons Larry (Evelyn Wright) Southerland and Landon (Rachel) Southerland, grandchildren Danielle Sandage and Olivia Reiber, great-grandson Ian Sandage, brother Roe (Nell) Southerland, and nieces and nephew Mary Ann, Sara Lee, Regina, and Steve.
