Obituary of Donald Joseph Shooter

Donald Joseph Shooter, age 93 of Gallatin, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 29th at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Friday, January 28th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Family Heritage Funeral Home.  Graveside Service will be Saturday, January 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Cemetery at Pleasant Union Baptist Church, 2170 Wilson Church Road, Ready, KY  42721.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959.

Mr. Shooter was born August 13, 1928 in Ralston, NE to Donald Hubert Shooter and Alice Johanna Pflug Shooter.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Lovana Likins Shooter; and brother, John Shooter.  He is survived by son, Donie Shooter (Susan) of Arizona; daughters, Ruth Fennell (Tim) of Gallatin and Joyce Williams (Steve) of Gallatin; brothers, Art Shooter (Marilyn) of California and Neil Shooter of California; sister, Joan Neller of California; 7 grandchildren, Elisabeth Shooter, Rachael Jensen (Michael), D. J. Shooter (Lindsey), Christy Hebert (Kris), Phillip Williams (Amanda), Gregory Williams, and Joey Williams (Kaysie); furry grandchildren, Rusty Fennell and Jenny Fennell; 16 great grandchildren, Dustyn Shooter, Zakk Barrios, Zoe Jensen, Matthew Jensen, Rebekah Jensen, Mikey Jensen, AnnaBelle Jensen, Claire Jensen, Beau Shooter, Elle Shooter, Monroe Shooter, Ace Shooter, Kaley Russell, Adeline Kate Hebert, Nora Williams, and Carter Williams; and 1 great-great grandchild, Ophelia Marie Russell.  Mr. Shooter served our country in the United States Army.  He graduated from University of Tennessee Martin, and owned an irrigation business for over 50 years.  He loved restoring antique cars, winning numerous awards for his restorations.  He will be greatly missed.  (P.S. Joyce was his favorite, according to Joyce; Ruth was his favorite, according to Ruth; but Donie really was his favorite).
