Obituary of Bobby Ray Briley

Bobby Ray Briley, 69, passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by his loving family on March 9, 2022 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bobby was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 26, 1952. He was a long-time resident of Hermitage, Tennessee, and has been enjoying his retirement from the Tennessee Department of Corrections since January 2020.

Bobby was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons who were the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife and life-long partner of over 50 years, Susan (Edens) Briley; two daughters, Kristy (Mark) Cochran and Jenny (Brian) LeBlanc, both of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and his four beloved grandsons, Tommy Cochran, Logan Elmore, Kobie Elmore, and Peyton Elmore. He is also survived by brother, John "Bubba", and three sisters, Becky, Linda, and Teresa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends, including long time friend, John Dickerson.

Mr. Briley was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Pierce Briley and Lillian Myrtle (Etheridge) Briley; sister, Joyce Dean "Sissy" Vaden; brother, James Allen Briley; and nephew, Steve Vaden.

A private celebration of life will be held at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with his loving family.
