Obituary of Carolyn Joyce Ecker

Mrs. Carolyn Joyce Ecker age 83 of Franklin, KY formerly of Grand Rapids, MI died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Ecker was born April 5, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of the late Harry and Leona VanVleet. Mrs. Ecker is survived by two sons Randy Ecker (Joanne) of Franklin, KY and David Allen Ecker of Dixon, IA. Two daughters Christine Strom (Hal) of Stewart, FL and Brenda Norton (Mike) of Grand Rapids, MI. 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Along with her parents, Mrs. Ecker was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Ecker, her son Gerald Thomas Ecker, a sister Ruth VerBerg along with 6 brothers Russ, Paul, Roger, Herbert, Charles and Gerald VanVleet. Mrs. Ecker was a member and until Thursday evening, the oldest living member of Living Hope Community Church in Grand Rapids, MI. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday November 20, 2021 at Living Hope Community Church in Grand Rapids, MI with Rev. Jim Hogg officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until service time Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Hope Community Church in Grand Rapids, MI.
