Obituary of Mrs. Mattie Clay Rush

Mrs. Mattie Clay Rush, age 85 of Portland, TN. passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home in Portland. Mrs. Rush was born April 25, 1930 in Jackson Co., TN the daughter of the late Zenith and Bessie Keith Allen. Mrs. Rush is survived by a son, Bill (Sandi) Rush of Portland, TN. A brother, James (Mae) Allen of Sparta, TN. 4 sisters, Mary (Roy) Fields, Mildred Harness, Annie (Clayton) Lee and Velma (Steve) Demps all of Cookeville, TN. 2 grandchildren, Dustin (Rachel) Rush and Blake (Catherine) Rush. 3 great grandchildren, Domenic, Brayden and Kinsley Rush. Several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rush was preceded in death by her husband, John William Rush in 2001 and 2 brothers, Norman and Winfred Allen. Mrs. Rush was a member of the Portland Church of Christ in Portland, TN. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Burial will follow at Old Brush Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM Thursday and Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Blake Rush, Dwayne Harness, Domenic Rush, Brayden Rush, Buddy Brewster, Gordon Hodges, Jack Puckett, and Joey Rush.
