Obituary of Dorothy Catron Poag

Dorothy Catron Poag, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022.  Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2nd at Rehoboth United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be Saturday, July 2nd at the church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Sam Catron, Jay Catron, C. J. Cothron, Mark Catron, Dean Catron, and Rodney Cothron serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers are Grady Catron, James Hunter, and Veranda Ministries family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vanderbilt Athletic Fund, Vanderbilt University, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN  37235 or Veranda Ministries, Inc, 650 Nashville Pike #7A, Gallatin, TN  37066.

Mrs. Poag was born January 11, 1930 in Ben Hur, VA to the late McKinley Catron and Golden Vida Moore Catron.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Dalcomb Poag; brother, John Henry Catron, Sr.; and sisters, Millie Elizabeth Williams and Nathleene “Tootsie” Skinner.  She is survived by brother, McKinley Catron, Jr. (Bonnye) of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Frances Catron of Gallatin; and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Poag retired from the Vanderbilt University Athletic Department after 35 years of service.  She returned for 15 additional years as a consultant.  Mrs. Poag was a recipient of the Ken Hudgens Service Award.  She was inducted into the Vanderbilt Athletic Hall of Fame in January 2022.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin has been honored to assist the family.
