Obituary of William Gilbert "Bill" Brewer

William Gilbert “Bill” Brewer, age 91 of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022.  Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin.  Visitation will be Tuesday, September 6th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 7th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be Wednesday, September 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Brewer was born April 18, 1931 in Pulaski, Tennessee to the late Samuel Eugene Brewer and Florence Hayes Brewer.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife and mother of his children, Mary Ann Hollingsworth Brewer; son, Robert Morris Brewer; brother, J. W. Brewer; sisters, Lilie Crabtree, Mary Crabtree, Irene Holly, Alice Ive, Louise Fry, and Lena Jo Barnett.  He is survived by wife, Virginia “Gale” Rodgers Brewer; sons, William “Bill” Earl Brewer (Donna K.) of Gallatin and Thomas Steven Brewer (Cheryl) of Unionville, TN; daughters, Mary Elizabeth Holmes (Roy) of Gallatin, Sherry Lynn Gunter (John) of Hartsville, and Nancy Elaine Meadows (Joe) of Hendersonville; several step children; sister, Betty Martin of Alabama; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.  Mr. Brewer served our country for 42 years in the United States Army and in the National Guard. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion for 25 continuous years.  He retired from Rogers Group after 13 years of service.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
