Obituary of Samuel Robert Gilmore

Samuel Robert Gilmore, age 89 of the Bethpage/Castalian Springs area, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022.  There will be a Gathering of Friends Memorial Tribute celebrating his life on Sunday, October 23^rd from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Castalian Springs Community Center, 2800 Hartsville Pike, Castalian Springs, TN  37031.

Mr. Gilmore was born March 3, 1933 in Castalian Springs to the late John W. Gilmore and Monterey Bates Gilmore.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife of 61 years, Doris Claiborne Gilmore; daughter, Kathy Sue Gilmore; and brother, John Hinton Gilmore.  He is survived by sister, Nancy Hackett of Carthage; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.  He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 1955.   Mr. Gilmore served our country in the United States Army.  He retired from Nashville Electric Service after 35 years of service.  He was a member of the Baptist Church and served his community in many ways, including work with the Community Center and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  He was a kind and giving person to all who knew him.  He and his wife lived in Hendersonville for 31 years and owned a shoe store for several years.  Upon his retirement, he and his wife returned to Castalian Springs to live on the family farm.  He will be missed by many people.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
