Obituary of Richard D. Spencer

SPENCER, Richard D., age 74, swam into the arms of Jesus on November 9, 2022.

Richard was a steadfast and Godly man of faith, beloved by those who knew him. He was one of the founders of IBT “Integrated Biometric Technology” and took pride in his work. He loved music and sang incessantly. While living in Iowa, he was a member of a country band called “Dick Spencer and the Day Dreamers.” After giving his life to the Lord, he moved his family to Nashville for work where he would also record his gospel album.

He lived his life serving God in ministry. In the states he served with Gideons, traveled to churches preaching and giving his testimony, and led a Bible studies in one of the prisons in Nashville.

He enjoyed hunting and everything outdoors, as well as fishing and teaching his children and grandchildren to fish. He was well traveled and loved the Caribbean. He co-founded New Hope International Missions in India with his dear friend, late Pastor Surendra Babie over twenty years ago. God gave him an unfailingly compassionate heart for the widows and orphans in India. Above all, he led and loved his family well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Georgia Spencer; sister, Joan Hoyle; nephew, Dana Hoyle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Spencer; children, Angela (Chris) Hendry and Amanda Spencer; siblings, Barbara Porter, Nancy LeMieux, and David Dickey; 6 grandchildren, Hannah, Shelby, Mary, Lily Hendry, Avery Guffey, and Spencer Replogle; and nephew, Monty Hoyle.

The celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 3:00pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Monty Hoyle officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20th from 2:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm. Following the service, everyone is invited to Priest Lake Christian Fellowship for a meal and time of fellowship. The interment will be private and will take place in the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to New Hope International
