Obituary of Willie Dean Swafford, Sr.

Willie Dean Swafford, age 79 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022.  Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 8th at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin.  Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 8th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Allen Felts, Ryan Felts, Michael Gwaltney, Donald Harris, Jr., Kevin Shell, and Blake Roberts serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Swafford was born May 5, 1943 in Nashville to the late Joe Swafford and Birdie Mae Johnson Swafford.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Willie D. Swafford, Jr., brothers, Joe Swafford, Jr and Jimmy Swafford; and sisters, Linda Barris, and Peggy Ragland.  He is survived by wife of 51 years, Mary Helen Jessee Swafford of Gallatin; children, Glenda Harris (Don) of Bethpage, Linda High (Robert) of Gallatin, Carol Harris of Gallatin, Suzette Swafford Long of Chatsworth, GA, Brenda Felts (George) of Gallatin, and Jimmy Swafford of Calhoun, GA; brother, Richard Swafford (Belinda) of Kingston Springs; sisters, Tammy Perry, Lillian Cothran of Nashville, Barbara Adkins (Billy) of Antioch, Katie Sylvester of Nashville, Vickie McKenzie of Kentucky, and Marie Swafford of Nashville; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.  Mr.  Swafford served our country in the United States Army.  He worked at Globe Furniture for 18 years; in addition, he worked at the Palace Theater, Burton Cabinets, Terry Sloan Cabinets, and Felts Plumbing.  Willie was father of three children by his first wife then he married Helen who, at the time, had four daughters whom he raised as his own, he chose to be their father.   Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
