Obituary of Virginia Oma Jean Fykes

Virginia Oma Jean Fykes, age 87 of Bethpage, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023.  Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 7^th in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin, with Bro. Ron Ralph officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, March 6^th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, March 7^th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with members of Cornerstone Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959.

Mrs. Fykes was born January 30, 1936 to the late Willie B. Green and Myrtle Spivey Green.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Herbert Green, Elster Green, Taylor Green, Chester Green, and Horace Green; and sisters, Edith Carmichael, Willie B. Allen, and Melba Green.  She is survived by husband of 71 years, Billy H. Fykes of Bethpage; sons, Danny Fykes (Debbie) of Bethpage and Johnny Fykes of Bethpage; sister, Ruth Chandler of Washington; grandchildren, Chantay Fykes, Derek Fykes, Phillip C. Conner, and Brett Fykes; and great grandchildren, Destiny Hale, Kayleigh Sadler, Elijah Fykes, Ayden Fykes, Micah Fykes, Grayson Conner, Saylor Conner, and Adalynn Fykes.  She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carthage.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
