Obituary of Betty Lou Ralph Hunter

Betty Lou Ralph Hunter, 92, passed away March 5, 2023. She was born on December 25, 1930 alongside her twin sister Nettie Sue Ralph Scott in Shackle Island, TN.
She was raised in the historic home, “Old Brick”, in Shackle Island and took great pride in the farm that she and her sister grew up on. After graduating from Hendersonville High School she attended Austin Peay State University for two years and then became a secretary in Nashville. Later she continued her career as a secretary at the Sumner County Board of Education until retirement.
Betty enjoyed cooking fried chicken and all of its fixings, baking cakes and pies, playing bridge with friends, spending time with her family, and sitting in her porch swing on sunny days.
She also enjoyed attending Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Shackle Island where she was a loyal member for many years.
She was preceded in death by parents Edyth Tucker Ralph and James C. Ralph, husband Thomas W. Hunter, twin sister Nettie Sue Scott, and brother in law John D. Scott, Jr.
Betty is survived by her daughter Jamie Bruce Bowman (Mike), stepson Thomas Andrew Hunter (Nannette), stepson Brent Alen Hunter (Annette), stepson Thomas William Hunter III. She is also survived by granddaughters Lindsay Baldwin (Matthew), Jacie Seering (Erik) and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, March 8th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 8th at 12:00 p.m. at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  Interment will follow the service at Historic Beech Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3216 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN  37075.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.

The family would like to thank special friend, Judy Ralph for the love, care and many laughs that she provided Betty.
