Obituary of Dorothy Rumage

Dorothy (O’Guin) Rumage, of Watertown/Norene TN, passed away on April 1, 2023 at her home in Norene. The Funeral Service, officiated by Revered Jim Yates of Fall Creek Baptist Church, is 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home. Interment in Hermitage Memorial Gardens (535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory TN) is 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.

               “Miss Dot” (and “Mee-maw”), as she was known by those who loved and knew her, was born in South Bend IN to B.J. and Clara Perkins on September 19, 1929. She went to high school in Harriman TN. Miss Dot was a Christian and an active member of Fall Creek Baptist Church in Norene TN.

               Mrs. Rumage is survived by her daughter: Teresa (O’Guin) Ray of Lebanon TN; sons: William “Barney” (Linda) O’Guin of Norene TN and Tim O’Guin (Jeannie) of Lebanon TN; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, husband Bill O’Guin, and 2^nd husband James Rumage, and a son Joseph O’Guin.

               Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.act.alz. Org). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Amedisys Hospice aides, nurses, and staff, and their personal thanks to our friends who assisted in her care, Mrs. Mary Mayo and Mrs. Lynette Beetle.
