Obituary of Gary Merritt
Gary Merritt passed away on April 3, 2023 at age 78. Gary Lonnie Merritt was born in Ripley, Mississippi, to Ruth Seabell Martindale Merritt and Garvis Merritt and later lived in Hernando, Mississippi, before settling in Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force for nearly three years. After his military service, he worked as a machinist for Dover Elevators and retired from there after 32 years. He enjoyed fishing almost as much as being with family.
Mr. Merritt is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Stephens Merritt; daughters: Stephanie (Andrew) Johnson and Karla (Clayt) Gates; grandchildren: Anna (Christopher) Lyons and Garret (Brittney) Johnson; and sister: Glenda Merritt McCoy.
