He served in both the United States Navy and the Tennessee Army National Guard. As well as a 32° K.C.C.H. (Knight Commander Court of Honor) and 50-year member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Nashville, where he was always active in the choir and sang a solo called “I see God”. His favorite things in life were his family, gardening, cooking, working with stained glass and anything that would get him outdoors.

Ernest was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and confidant to many. He lived his life helping others as often as needed. He was always there to listen carefully and be caring in his offers of advice. He was an enormous and sturdy shoulder in times of need for anyone who needed it. Though he is now at peace, we grieve for the enormous hole left in our hearts. He has provided us with many good and cherished memories. He has Instilled the best of himself in us, that the hole may be filled with love with the echoes of his life to help guide us onward. We all look forward to the day we will be with him again.
