Obituary of Edith Maybell Carter Wix

Mrs. Edith Maybell Carter Wix, age 79 of Portland, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Mrs. Wix was born on April 22, 1944 in Gallatin, Tennessee to Billy Scruggs and Lucy Carter.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby G. Wix; daughters, Carolyn Greer and Diana McIlveene; grandson, Mikie Walker; brothers, William Carter and Frizzo Carter; sister, Ada Conyer.

She is survived by her children, Bobby W. (Tracy) Wix and Barbie (Cleveland) Jackson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brother, Homer Carter; sisters, Mary Ann Waldrop, Irene Conn, Agnes Epley, Shirley Barber, Betty McPhaill, Hildra Creek, and Penny Dickerson.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 16^th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Portland with Dave Alexander officiating. Interment will follow the service at Old Brush Cemetery with Tray Jackson, Rusty Jackson, Logan Jackson, Dre Vaughn, Josh Cook and Michael Cook serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, August 15^th from 1:00-8:00 PM and Wednesday, August 16^th from 9:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the funeral expenses.
