Obituary of Michael Steven McElyea

Mr. Michael Steven McElyea, age 75 of Portland, Tennessee passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, Florida. Mr. McElyea was born on November 9, 1948 in Moline, Illinois to Edwin H. McElyea and Catherine D. Kephart.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy McElyea; brother in laws, Gary Kelley and Kelvin Gregory.

He is survived by his loving wife, Yadira “Jeddy” McElyea; sisters, Sheri (Eddie) Reeves, Sheila Kelley, Debbie Gregory, Denise (Rob) Kline, and Kim (John) Rowland; brothers, Jeff (Christy) McElyea and Brian (Jill) McElyea; daughter, Eva Michelle (Brian) Miller; step son, Brad (Debbie) Mosley; 2 grandsons, Ryan (Bailey) Miller and Drew (Ciera) Miller; step granddaughter, Autumn Mosley; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 19^th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Portland with Tom Slagle officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Hardin Cemetery with Mike Spears, David Jones, Nathan Gregory, Jay Gregory, Brian Kelley, Scott Kelley, Jacob Rowland Tate, and Brad Mosley serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, February 18^th from 3:00-7:00 PM and Monday, February 19^th 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.
