Obituary of Robert Mattox

Robert (Bob) Mattox, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015. Funeral Service will be Monday, April 27th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Brother Doyle Farris officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, April 26th from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. and Monday, April 27th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be Tuesday, April 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Harpeth Hills Cemetery, with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mr. Mattox was born October 2, 1922 in Portland, TN to the late Robert Roscoe Mattox and Emma E. Reid Mattox. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Velma Polk Mattox; sister, Montrey Jo Mattox; brother, Dudley Mattox; daughter, Bonnie Mattox; and grandsons, Todd Bernard, and Douglas Taylor. He is survived by daughters, Ann Taylor of Monroe, GA, Linda Everett (Anthony) of Monroe, GA, Sandra Bernard (Dennis) of Waynesboro, GA, Sue Lofton (Terry) of Bowling Green, KY, and Brenda Yates of Gallatin; sisters, Ann Bessier of Happy Valley, OR, and Bonnie Harmon of Somerset, KY; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Mattox was retired from Roadway Express , 32nd degree Mason with Mount Juliet Lodge #642, a member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, and a Veteran of WWII. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bonnie Mattox Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Taylor, 126 Bryant Road, Monroe, GA 30655, American Cancer Society, Hartsville Pike Church of Christ, or a charity of your choice.
